Understanding-Centered AI

Use AI. Be YOU. Do More.

Understanding-centered AI tools, projects, and learning experiences for real life, real work, and the next human step.

Stephanie Kresser, LCSW, is a Doctor of Social Work student, educator, and applied AI innovator building tools, projects, and learning experiences that help people think clearly, navigate complexity, and act with confidence.

About

Grounded in social work. Building understanding-centered AI.

Stephanie works at the intersection of clinical social work, ethical AI, education, systems change, research, and understanding-centered technology. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and New York, a Doctor of Social Work student, and a social work educator, her work is grounded in clinical practice, community-based experience, nonprofit leadership, and medical social work.

Her current focus is building tools, projects, and learning experiences that help people use AI to organize complexity, clarify decisions, improve access to resources, support research workflows, and strengthen professional judgment.

Stephanie's earlier work as the founder of Mentor Me of Ulster County helped shape her commitment to practical, relationship-based systems that respond to real human needs. That foundation continues to inform her current work in social technology, resource navigation, and understanding-centered AI.

She believes AI should not replace human judgment, ethics, creativity, or relationship. Instead, AI should help people understand more clearly, ask better questions, organize complexity, and do more of the work that matters.

Inventor / Product Concept

A portable bed a child can call their own.

MySleeper was created as a practical response to the needs of children living in unstable or temporary housing conditions. The concept combines a lightweight sleeping mat, attached pillow, and storage bag that children can personalize and call their own.

The project reflects Stephanie's long-standing commitment to building practical, human-centered solutions that respond to real needs with dignity, creativity, and care.

Philosophy

Building Understanding-Centered AI

  1. 01

AI should help people understand context, not just generate content.

  2. 02

AI should support judgment, not replace it.

  3. 03

AI should help organize complexity and reduce overwhelm.

  4. 04

AI should make options, resources, and next steps easier to see.

  5. 05

AI should be used ethically, responsibly, and transparently.

  6. 06

AI should preserve dignity, identity, relationship, creativity, and care.

  7. 07

Social workers, educators, clinicians, and community leaders should help shape how AI is designed, taught, questioned, and used.
